quilts are hand-woven on the traditional Maya backstrap loom--a time consuming process that yields a strong, tight, exquisite weave. And, of course, our authentic paintings are done on canvas with
oils--something new to the Maya but mastered quickly. As with many native cultures, the art of the Maya is not just art.
